On November 1, the First Academic Exchange Conference on River Strategy, organized by the Watershed Development Strategy Committee of the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society, was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. The conference was jointly hosted by the Watershed Development Strategy Committee of the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society, and organized by the School of Hydraulic Engineering. With the theme "Developing New Quality Productive Forces to Support the National River Strategy," the conference delved into topics such as river safety and stability, water resource conservation and efficient utilization, ecological protection and restoration, and comprehensive watershed management.

At the opening ceremony, Niu Xinqiang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Chen Yexing, Chief Engineer of the Department of Water Resources of Zhejiang Province, jointly unveiled the plaque for the Zhejiang Key Laboratory of River-Lake Water Network Health Restoration. This marked a solid step forward in Zhejiang Province's research on river-lake health and ecological restoration.

In his speech, President Wan Jian reviewed the university's more than seventy years of development in step with the water resources sector, and pointed out that as the only higher education institution in Zhejiang with a specialization in water resources and hydropower, the university will remain committed to its founding mission of serving the nation through water resources and actively integrate into the national "River Strategy." Li Shuxia, Deputy Director of the Yellow River Institute of Hydraulic Research, stated that since its establishment five years ago, the Watershed Development Strategy Committee of the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society has provided solid scientific and technological support for the implementation of the "River Strategy" and the development of "Happy River and Lake" through strategic research, technological innovation, and enhanced collaboration. Academician Niu Xinqiang was invited to deliver a keynote report titled "Discussions on Advancing Engineering Technologies for River Protection and Management." The conference also featured invited reports by renowned scholars such as Wang Zhongjing, Wu Qiang, Zhao Yong, Wang Renqing, and Han Yuping, along with presentations by 12 experts, who shared the latest research findings and practical experiences.
